Who runs witnd
witnd is an independent project maintained by palamto (@palamto on X). For privacy questions or requests, email palamto@protonmail.com. Please use email for account-specific requests rather than posting personal information on X.
Information we use
- Account details: your email address, account identifier, and any display name you provide. These let you sign in and keep your plans linked to your account.
- Your plans: names, amounts, dates, payment schedules, and whether a plan is income or an expense. We use these to save your plans and calculate forecasts.
- Preferences and usage: display currency, opening balance, forecast settings, subscription or test-access status, AI credit balances, and request records.
- Technical records: authentication events, request timing, errors, and other service logs needed to operate the app, prevent abuse, and investigate problems. Infrastructure providers may process IP addresses and device information.
- Support messages: information you choose to send when asking for help.
- Billing records: Stripe customer, checkout, subscription, invoice, and payment identifiers; selected plan; payment and refund status; and billing-period dates. We use these to verify payments, provide paid access and credit allowances, prevent duplicate purchases, and respond to billing requests.
witnd does not connect to your bank or collect bank sign-in credentials. Avoid entering account numbers, identity documents, passwords, or other information that isn’t needed for your plans.
How we use this information
We use account and plan information to provide the service you request: signing you in, saving plans, calculating forecasts, and responding to support requests. We also use limited operational records to keep the service secure, control AI usage, and resolve errors.
Where applicable, these purposes rely on providing the service, our legitimate interest in operating and protecting it, or a legal obligation. When processing depends on consent, you can withdraw that consent by contacting us. We don’t use your plans for advertising or sell them to advertisers.
AI processing
When you ask AI to fill in a plan, the text you submit and relevant planning context, such as the date and display currency, are sent to OpenAI through our server. Review the result before saving it.
For financial insights, we send summarized forecast figures and relevant dates. The insights request excludes your account identifier, email address, and individual plan names. Saved insights and AI usage records are linked to your account in witnd.
We request AI responses with response storage disabled. This does not mean the provider keeps no logs. OpenAI’s separate retention and safety policies still apply; see its API data controls. If you don’t want to submit plan text to AI, enter the plan details manually. Financial insights are enabled by default after your first successful paid purchase, unless you previously saved a different choice. You can turn financial insights off in Settings → AI Assistance to stop new financial-insights requests.
Service providers and processing locations
Supabase provides authentication, database storage, and server functions. OpenAI processes AI requests. Your email provider and the services used to deliver sign-in emails also process those messages.
Stripe provides the secure payment form embedded in witnd, hosted Checkout for existing payment links, and the billing portal. It processes payment details, billing contact information, and transaction information under its Privacy Policy. Card fields in our checkout are served directly by Stripe in a secure frame. Full card numbers and security codes go to Stripe, not to witnd’s servers. Stripe may use cookies, device information, and interaction signals to process payments and prevent fraud. Your saved financial plans and forecast contents are not sent to Stripe.
These providers may process information outside your country. Their locations, safeguards, and retention rules depend on the service and configuration. See Supabase’s data-location information, Stripe’s Privacy Policy, and the OpenAI data controls linked above.
Browser storage
witnd uses browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your theme and language, and complete sign-in redirects. The current app does not include advertising trackers or marketing analytics. Clearing browser storage may sign you out or reset display preferences; it does not delete the plans saved in your account.
Retention and deletion
Saved plans and account settings are retained so you can return to them. Inactive accounts are not automatically deleted. You can remove individual plans in the app or email us to request account deletion.
We review deletion requests after verifying account ownership. Some billing records may need to remain for accounting, refunds, dispute handling, security, or legal requirements. Provider logs and backups follow their own retention schedules and may not disappear immediately when live data is removed. Deleting an account and cancelling a recurring subscription are separate actions; we will help resolve active billing when handling an account-deletion request. Your choices and rights
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access or obtain a copy of your information, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, transfer data, withdraw consent, or complain to the relevant data-protection authority. These rights can have legal exceptions.
Send requests to palamto@protonmail.com from the email associated with your account. We may need to verify your identity before sharing or changing account information. Data export and account deletion are currently handled by request, rather than by a self-service button.
Updates
If we change how information is used, we’ll update this page and its date. Material changes that need notice or consent will be handled before the new processing begins.
